A horse feared to have been stolen was rescued by firefighters from a brook.
A young girl was said to be ‘heartbroken’ after realising her horse had gone missing from a field on Parkgate Road in Chester, on Wednesday (October 12).
A friend of the owner took to social media appealing for information of the horse’s whereabouts after initially believing it had been stolen.
However, fire crews from Chester and the animal rescue unit from Knutsford were called to rescue the horse shortly after 6pm after it had become stuck in a brook on Parkgate Road.
Ropes and lines were used to pull the horse out of the ditch onto dry land.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “Firefighters pulled a horse out of water after it became stuck.
“The animal was in a ditch and the crews used ropes and lines to help the horse onto dry land.”
