HOOLA hoopers are putting a new spin on raising money for Sport Relief.

Hoola hoop instructor Sasha Kenney, founder of Hoola Nation, has organised a series of activities at Chester Racecourse on Sunday, as part of a huge charity challenge.

At least 60 children and adults have already committed to taking part in the event which includes fun hooping, spinning the hoop for two minutes, or running for a mile while hooping which is aimed at more advanced hoopers.

The hooping will take place while runners are doing sponsored one, three and six mile runs around the racecourse.

Sasha, who teaches hoola hooping classes at the Northgate Arena, said: “Anyone can have a go, regardless of age or ability. I am so excited, I think it’s going to be the best day ever. It’s for a really good cause and it’s going to be a day of real fun.”

It’s also going to be an extremely tiring day for Sasha.

As soon as the Chester event finishes she will be heading for Manchester where she will be taking part in a world record hoola hooping attempt, sponsored by Hoola Hoops, for the Guiness Book of Records. The aim is for 1,000 people across the UK to hoola hoop simultaneously for two minutes, starting at noon.

After that she will be heading to Coedpoeth, near Wrexham, where she has organised a sponsored one mile hoola hoop through the village for 50 children, again for Sport Relief.
