HELLRAISING yobs went on the rampage on a Hough Green train as they made their way back from a teenage disco at a nightclub.

The youths wrecked the train travelling from Warrington Central to Liverpool Lime Street last Wednesday night after spending the evening at Mr Smith's.

The chaos erupted just before 11pm as the train had made a stop at Hough Green station. Seventeen windows were smashed as the gang wreaked havoc.

Fire extinguishers were set off, which sparked panic among 150 other youngsters on the train.

Police have confirmed that £5,000-6,000 of damage was caused in a few minutes as the youths ripped up furniture and threw missiles.

And now crime scene investigators are examining the train and police are scrutinising CCTV evidence.

One Hough Green resident saw youths pouring out of the train then on to the streets. He said: 'They made a run from the station onto the streets. They were really fired up.'

Inspector Sonja Simister, of the British Transport Police, said: 'This type of behaviour is totally unacceptable and we are appealing for you to come forward if you were among the group of 150 youths on the train and know who was responsible for the damage.'
