A Chester family are fronting an all-night fundraising campaign in aid of the charity that supports them every single day.

Three-year-old Isabelle Gregory who suffers from mitochondrial disease and her siblings Isaac, five, and Imogen, two, are fronting the Claire House All Nighter, a brand new initiative from the charity which asks supporters to get sponsored and stay up all night on Friday June 19.

Money raised from the All Nighter means parents Jemma and Craig from Hoole can get a good night’s sleep themselves and a break from the 24/7 job of being carers.

Jemma said: “As Isabelle wakes a lot during the night we have to check on her at all hours. So when she’s at the hospice, it means we can enjoy a full night’s sleep, safe in the knowledge that the Claire House team are keeping a close eye on her and giving her the very best care.

“Recharging our batteries every so often means me and my husband Craig can be the very best parents possible for Isabelle, Isaac and Imogen.”

Claire House provides care, support and choice to hundreds of families from Chester and the surrounding areas, whose children won’t live to be adults. The hospice relies heavily on funding from the public, with 80% of its funding coming through voluntary donations.

Mark Pearson, event fundraiser at Claire House Children’s Hospice, added: “We’re asking our supporters to stay up all night so our families can get a good night’s sleep – it’s that simple.

“A solid eight hours sleep is something many of us take for granted but for families with seriously ill children, it’s an incredibly rare thing. When their children come to Claire House, not only do the kids have fun, the parents and carers get the chance to relax and enjoy their first full night’s sleep in months, if not years. We’re encouraging as many people as possible to sacrifice just one night’s sleep so a family in desperate need of a rest, can get one.”
