You are driving home to Chester after a long day at work in Manchester, Liverpool or North Wales and you get 'papped'.

But this is no celebrity photographer about to change your life - this is the speed camera on the A56 Hoole Road, which has been recognised as is Cheshire's most prolific, catching more than 20 drivers every day.

Exclusive data obtained by the Chronicle under the Freedom of Information has pinpointed the cameras that caught the most speeding motorists last year.

The camera, adjacent to the playing fields, snagged an incredible 7,360 motorists between April 2014 and March 2015, more than twice the next that of the next camera, on the A49 Winwick Road in Warrington.

If everyone paid the maximum £100 fine for being caught this camera would net Cheshire Police up to £736,000 per year.

Hoole's camera is one of the most prolific in the country, catching 20 motorists per day - beating cameras on the M1 and even Tower Bridge in London.
