SPONGES flew, penalties were taken, ducks were hooked and rats were splatted when a school held its summer fair.

The sun shone from blue skies as Hoole CE Primary held its fair in Hoole Lane.

The event was opened by Chester Town Crier David Mitchell, fresh from organising the World Town Crier Championships held in the city, and featured traditional family favourites including a coconut shy, face painting and a raffle.
