STARS from Chester-based soap Hollyoaks became waiters, waitresses and chefs in the city’s Blackhouse Grill for a good cause.

Two teams of the soap’s cast members worked in the Newgate Street restaurant, as part of the War of the Waiters fundraiser.

They consisted of the White Team, captained by Ashley Taylor Dawson with Dominique Jackson, Garnon Davies and Jessica Fox.

They won the night’s challenge with 185 points, pipping the Black Team.

Their captain Nick Pickard was gracious in defeat, with him and team-mates Kieron Richardson, Nathalie Emmanuel and Gemma Merna being pipped at the post with 183 points.

They worked with trained staff members to raise money for the Alder Hey hospital’s Imagine Appeal, which improves the quality of life for children in hospital.

Half the proceeds from the night went toward the appeal, raising a total of £1,881.49.

Paul Moran, operations director at the Blackhouse Grill, said: “The Hollyoaks teams have done a tremendous job tonight. They have worked incredibly hard and produced some great food and drinks. They took the evening seriously and really did get stuck in.

“We are delighted to have hosted such a fun event at the Blackhouse Grill for such a worthwhile charity.”

Nick Pickard said: “Hollyoaks has always supported The Alder Hey Imagine appeal, playing various football matches throughout the year. So when we were approached to be involved in this event we were only too pleased to take part.

“I was really proud of my team’s efforts tonight, they worked incredibly hard!”
