STARS of Chester-based soap Hollyoaks battled it out with the High Quality Coaching Centre in a charity football match.
About 350 people attended the fundraiser at the Cheshire County Sports Club on Saturday, with funds from the day going to help the HUGS (Helping Ugandan Schools) charity.
Team captain for HQ Coaching Matthew Houghton arranged and organised the day’s events and scored a brace during the match, helping HQ to a 6-1 win over the Hollyoaks squad.
Other scorers on the day included a brace from Nathan Mapletoft, Alex Bannon with a bullet-like header and Mike Wilde with a nicely-taken shot. Although the scoreline reflected a one-sided game, Hollyoaks had chances throughout but were denied by some very good goalkeeping from Josh Collins.
Some of the football coaches will be travelling with the charity later this year to help schoolchildren in Uganda.
