A HOLLYOAKS star is calling on Chester women to support a charity race.
Carley Stenson, who plays Stephanie de la Cunningham in the Channel 4 soap, was in the city centre on Tuesday to promote Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life.
The event is being held in the centre of Chester for the first time this year on Sunday, June 14.
Carley, 26, said: “I think it’s great Race for Life is in Chester as I feel close to the city with Hollyoaks being based here and we film here now and again.
“I’ve got lots of family and friends who have connections to cancer so it’s a great cause to support.”
The event will see up to 5,500 women taking in the city sights as they set off from the racecourse running past the cathedral, under the Eastgate Clock and down by the river to raise money for research into cancer.
Carley added: “Chester has got so much character and history to it and it’s great we’ll be running straight through the city centre.
“I think Race for Life is fantastic because it gets all the girls together and even though it’s a serious reason why we are running all your spirits are lifted.
“I think every woman should sign up because it’s a great way to raise money and keep fit.”
Cancer Research UK Chester Race for Life event manager Helen Wright said: “We are so pleased to have Carley supporting Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life in Chester.
“The Chester race has a great atmosphere and the fact the route is through the city centre for the first time this year will enable even more women to join in and inspire each other to run, jog or walk the 5k.”
Nearly 4,500 women have already signed up to take part.
