CHESTER Cathedral came alive with the voices of children celebrating the story of Christmas on Monday.

Hundreds of primary schoolchildren celebrated Jesus’ birth at the 12th annual Sing the Christmas Story event.

Narrated by Cheshire County Council’s primary music advisor Maureen Richards, the cathedral was packed with children from various local schools.

This year’s events was accompanied by local composer and pianist Michael Williams and a brass quartet.

A similar event will take place next Wednesday, December 12 at St Mary’s and St Helen’s Parish Church in Neston involving St Winefride’s, Neston, Bishop Wilson, Parkgate and Woodfall primary schools.
