THE Bear and Billet pub in Lower Bridge Street is sponsoring Uberlube FC who were recently promoted to division one of the Chester & District Saturday league.

The historic pub paid for the new Nike kit worn by the team, whose home ground is the Handbridge Watertower pitch in Overleigh Road.

All the players originate from Chester and many attended Upton High School.

The team’s unusual name derives from an DJ night called Uberlube for bar staff which was frequented by five of the players a few years ago.

Uberlube FC manager Tom Berry said the Bear and Billet had ‘a great history’ of supporting local football and the team was ‘very grateful’.
