STUDENTS and staff at Helsby High School are celebrating some excellent A-level results in this year’s examinations. In all 15 students gained a minimum of three A grades at A-level.

This year’s results further improve on the standards that were set last year.

Jonathan Benwell from Alvanley gained six A grades in his results. Jonathan will be taking up his place at Cambridge to study computer science.

Geraint Evans from Kingsley and Matthew Jones from Runcorn both gained five A grades in their results. Both boys will be attending Durham University, Geraint to study maths and Matthew to study physics.

Tom Cameron from Frodsham, Laura Coppin from Helsby, Lauren Gamble from Manley and Bryn Savill from Mouldsworth all gained four A grades in their examinations. Tom will be studying music at York, Laura English and classical literature at Birmingham, Lauren, biology at Durham and Bryn medicine at Cardiff.

Headteacher, Richard Evans said: “I would like to congratulate all the students on their marvellous achievements and thank them for the many contributions to the school they have made over the years.

“I would also like to recognise their hard work and dedication of the staff in supporting the students in their studies. “At a time when some national figures are commenting that A levels are getting easier, I would like to positively celebrate the students’ tremendous achievements whilst they have been at Helsby High School in gaining these outstanding results.”
