During an evening of glitz and glamour, the Powered Wheelchair Appeal from Helsby Golf Club celebrated the donation of more wheelchairs, including the 350th, to local deserving youngsters.
The celebration was held at Chester Racecourse and was organised by KeeDays professional event organiser Claudia Dickens and longtime supporter of the charity Keith O’Neil.
Around 200 supporters attended a fun-filled evening including a champagne reception, three course dinner, a magnificent fireworks display, live musical entertainment, casino tables, raffles and a grand charity auction.
The highlight of the evening however was the presentation of four powered wheelchairs to Jacob Cannell, aged 13 from Warrington, George Blakely, aged 11 from Frodsham, Laura Hunt, aged 20 from Northwich and Hazel, aged 12 from Newcastle-under-Lyme.
The appeal was delighted to welcome Chester-based TV presenter Lucy Meacock and actors Daniel Brocklebank and Emma Cunniffe to assist with the presentations.
The appeal, which is run by volunteers who are members at Helsby Golf Club, is a registered charity and has been raising funds for the last 33 years.
Over that time 351 wheelchairs have been provided to local children with special needs.
