SMOKERS in Elton are being offered help to break the habit as part of a range of new services offered by pharmacists.

Andrew Miller, MP for Ellesmere Port and Neston, visited Elton Pharmacy to chat to staff members about its benefits within the community.

“The pharmacy now offers a stop smoking service,” said Lisa Cordingley, pharmacist at Elton Pharmacy.

“We are hoping more people will use the service to stop smoking in the run-up to Christmas to tie in with New Year’s resolutions.

“The stop smoking service offers consultations where we measure levels of carbon monoxide in the blood and then suggest treatments.”

Other services offered at the pharmacy include a minor ailments scheme.

“We can treat certain conditions such as coughs, colds, flu, head lice, diarrhoea and vomiting that people would often go the doctor about.

“The pharmacy is very accessible and there is no need to book appointments. This can save patients time.”
