A two-vehicle collision caused heavy traffic on the M56 eastbound this afternoon (Tuesday, April 5).
The crash occurred between junction 14 for Hapsford and junction 12 for Runcorn at around 3.40pm.
A spokeswoman for Cheshire Constabulary said both drivers are safely out of their vehicles and the ambulance service was not required.
Highways England were understood to be involved managing traffic flow in the area. But police have now reported that traffic has returned to normal.
