YEAR 11 pupils at Wade Deacon High School exceeded the target that was set for them with 77% of pupils achieving five or more GCSE passes at A* to C.

Pamela Wright, headteacher, said: 'I would like to congratulate our pupils on their excellent examination results which will enable them to pursue higher education or the career of their choice.

'To see the happy, smiling faces of our pupils makes their hard work and that of all our staff so worthwhile.'

Some pupils achieved outstanding performances this year, with impressive results from Laura McLean who achieved eight A*s, 1A, 1B and AS level technology grade A; Sarah Davies who chalked up 6A*, 2 A's, 2 Bs; Carl Davies 6 A*s, 4As and AS level technology grade A; Kerry Mather who notched up 8A*s and 3As and Adam Grandby who achieved 1 A*, 5As, 4Bs and AS level technology grade C.

Record-breaking year puts pupils in pole position

SAINTS Peter and Paul College has achieved the best results in the school's history.

Scores of youngsters achieved 10 and 11 GCSE passes which have led to the college scooping their 'best ever' scores.

A school spokesman said: 'Everyone at the college is extremely pleased with our results.

'These are the best the college has ever achieved and give our students excellent opportunities for their progression.

'We are pleased to welcome a significant number of students into our sixth form to continue their Catholic education with us.

'A great many thanks to all who supported our students through their exams, especially parents, teachers and mentors.'
