BRITISH Transport Police have unveiled their latest weapon in the crackdown on any football-related disorder in Crewe - a new high-tech 'head-camera.'

The DV Pro camera has a headset allowing officers to gather evidence whilst keeping both hands free.

The camera is especially effective for dealing with large crowds and also has the ability to record in the dark with special night-vision technology.

Superintendent Graham Bamford said: 'The new head-camera is yet another excellent tool at our disposal which will be particularly impactive when policing large crowds especially those travelling to and from football matches.

'If people know we are watching and recording them they will hopefully think twice about their behaviour.'

Supt Bamford added: 'The policing of football matches and events are a major part of our role at British Transport Police and our officers have real expertise in this area. We won't tolerate football disorder in any form on the rail network.'
