KIND-HEARTED staff at the Britannia Building Society in Earle Street, Crewe, have raised £443 for terminally ill children.

They did it by selling raffle tickets for a hamper to customers.

The money will be donated to Hope House Hospice which provides respite, palliative care and terminal nursing for life-limited children.

The organisation runs two hospices, Hope House in Oswestry and Ty Gobaith in Conwy, and covers four counties including South Cheshire.

Crewe branch spokeswoman Jo Studzinfka, who helped put the hamper together, said: 'We do a Christmas hamper every year for charities and this year we wanted to raise money for children so Hope House was the obvious choice.'

Customers at Nantwich's Britannia Building Society branch raised £256 for the Parkinson's Disease Society by buying raffle tickets for a Christmas hamper.

The staff at the High Street branch packed a super range of Christmas fare into the hamper, which was won by Carol Turner of Nantwich.
