RETIRING headteacher Polly Dangerfield has had a successful final year at The Hammond School with a 100% A-level pass rate.

Her students did her proud with 67% of grades being As and Bs.

She said: “It is marvellous that my final year at the school has been marked by the excellent results we have come to expect at the Hammond.

“I am proud of the work done by both my staff and students.”

But two people who will be returning next year despite finishing their A-levels are high-fliers Megan Preston and Aicha Badri, who will actually be coming back for a third year.

The pair, from Broxton and Huddersfield respectively, were delighted with their A grades in theatre studies and English Literature, and both students and will be returning to The Hammond in September to complete the final year of the National Diploma in Professional Dance.
