This is the moment a masked thug held up a petrol station in Ellesmere Port using a gun wrapped in a plastic bag.

The man wielded a long barrelled black handgun to threaten a worker at the night counter of the Station Road site and demanded to be let into the store.

Once inside, he threatened the shop assistant again so they would hand over cash and cigarettes, then made his getaway with the stolen goods on a green mountain bike.

He was seen heading in the direction of the M53.

Now police are appealing to members of the public to come forward with any information about the robbery, which took place at around 5.15am today (September 1).

What does the offender look like?

The gunman is described as of medium build, around 5ft 8inches tall, and with a local accent.

He was wearing a black fencing-style or paintball mask, a hooded striped top, black trainers and grey jogging bottoms.


Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Rob Grantham said: “Station Road is a busy road and I believe that there would have been lots of motorists in the local area around the time of this incident who may hold vital information.

“I urge anyone with any information in relation to the incident to contact us on 101 so we can trace the person responsible.”

Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing, and a police cordon is currently in place at the petrol station.
