CELEBRATIONS continued at a Chester pre-school this week after it received praise from Ofsted.

Government inspectors gave Guilden Sutton Pre-School an overall rating of satisfactory although many categories were scored as being good.

The report described the pre- school children as ‘friendly’ and the staff as ‘positive role models’. It concludes by stating the pre- school’s plans are ‘well targeted to bring about further improvement to the provision and positive outcomes for children’.

Supervisor Hazel Crane said: “We are delighted that Ofsted recognised our children are ‘happy and settled’ and that the ‘warm and caring staff show respect for the uniqueness of each child’.

“The inspectors also judged that the children are ‘well cared for and engage in enjoyable activities’.

“We take great pride in the inclusive atmosphere at our pre- school and we will be working tirelessly to build on our strengths and to continue to make the improvements suggested by the inspectors to make the learning experience for all our children the best that it can be.”

The report arrived shortly after the Summerfield Road pre-school hosted a huge party to celebrate its 25th birthday.

More than 90 children from the pre-school and the neighbouring primary school enjoyed the event, which included former pupils looking at photographs and toys from their time there, music, games and a huge cake.

Mrs Crane added: “We have an excellent relationship with the primary school and it was a really good party.”

The pre-school offers funded places for three- and four-year- olds.
