IT was months in the planning and it beat the rain by an hour.

Organisers of the Guilden Sutton Village Fête, reintroduced to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the village hall, breathed a huge sigh of relief as the crowds went home just before the weather broke.

Taking place on the primary school field, the event saw everything from fancy dress and a football shoot-out to belly dancing and a beer tent.

People poured through the gates to enjoy the event, brought back for all the community to enjoy and to raise funds to make another fête possible next year.
