VALE Royal's lesbian, gay and transgender community is out and proud to present its first social event, The Pink Party.

Members of Voices in Vale Royal host a pink night on Tuesday at de.bees in Winsford. Entrance is free and there will be a DJ on hand to ensure a fabulous time for all from 7pm to midnight.

This is the first event organised by Voices in Vale Royal and aims to attract people from all sections of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community and their friends.

Volunteers from the group will be there to award goodie bags to the first 50 people to arrive. They will also be available to give information to anyone who is interested in becoming involved in future activities.

The chairman of Voices in Vale Royal said: 'We are delighted to launch our first Pink Party at de.bees in Winsford. It will give members of the LGBT community the chance to come along and meet some of the members of the group and find out more about us.

'Voices in Vale Royal is committed to working positively with all local organisations and businesses to ensure LGBT issues are treated fairly and with respect. The evening will be very informal.'

Damon Horrill, owner of de.bees Music Bar, said he expected hundreds of people to attend the event.

He added: 'This event is very much about gay pride. It will bring together people from all different backgrounds and sexualities and make a very big state-ment about equality.

'Mardi Gras-type festivals are held in big cities like Manchester and London, but nothing like this has been done before in a small town like Winsford. We're proud to be involved. Hopefully an event like this will encourage respect and an open mind.'
