Chester’s new cultural centre Storyhouse has had its inaugural visit from a company of actors.

The cast of Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre visited the site, which is the largest regional arts project currently under construction.

When it opens next year, Storyhouse will integrate a state of the art theatre, a boutique cinema, an inspirational library, studio theatre, café and bars. It will be run by the producers of Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre and the city’s music and literature festivals and Moonlight Flicks.

Alex Clifton, artistic director at Storyhouse, said: “It was pretty wonderful to stand on the stage with an ensemble of actors who already have a connection to the city and now to the building. We are so excited to see the building taking shape and looking out up to the stalls from the stage was really magnificent.”

Cllr Louise Gittins, Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Cabinet member for culture, leisure and wellbeing, said: “Storyhouse is set to host some of the country’s most exciting theatre talent, it’s delightful to welcome the cast from the city’s success story, Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre.”

You can see the actors in this summer’s Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre which opens this weekend with Shakespeare’s As You Like It. Find out more about Storyhouse at storyhouse.com.
