THERE are prizes to be won when Chester’s Grosvenor Museum stages its 10th Open Art Exhibition.

The event, which presents the best in contemporary art from the region, will see a total of £1,950 dished out to the finest contributions, including £1,000 for first prize.

Visitors to the exhibition, which takes place from February 7 until April 17, will also be able to vote for their favourite work, and the Visitors’ Choice will win £100.

Bringing in days for the exhibition are on January 25 and 26, and pieces will be judged by artist Jenny Ryrie, Adrian Sumner of Cheshire West and Chester Council and Peter Boughton, keeper of art at Cheshire West Museums.

Opening the exhibition will be Tate Liverpool artistic director Francesco Manacorda.

Cllr Stuart Parker, executive member for culture and recreation, said: “The open art exhibitions are always very popular. We are anticipating a high standard which I am sure will be enjoyed by the thousands of museum visitors.”
