A young mum spat at a police sergeant and bit a detention officer after crashing her boyfriend’s car – which had her three-month-old baby inside.

Alexandra Rose Parry, of Foxes Walk in Great Boughton, pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking, being drunk in charge of a child under the age of seven, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, using a vehicle on a road without third party insurance, driving a vehicle without a valid licence, assaulting a constable in the execution of duty and assaulting a detention officer in the execution of duty at Chester Magistrates Court on Thursday (July 23).

Rob Youds, prosecuting, told the court that 21-year-old Parry had been drinking on the night of June 25, when she put her daughter in her partner’s Vauxhall Astra – which she took without his consent – and drove off.

Parry, who only has a provisional licence, then collided with a Renault Scenic on Kingsway in Chester.

When police arrived at the scene, she refused a breath test.

Later, at Western Custody Suite in Blacon, she spat at Sgt Julia Bryant and bit Gareth Shone, a detention officer.

Parry’s solicitor Steve Coop said the baby girl is now in temporary care but that his client is having regular contact with her.

Magistrates made Parry the subject of an interim driving disqualification.

The hearing was adjourned so a pre-sentence report can be prepared.

Parry will be sentenced on August 13 and will remain on conditional bail until then.
