NEW mum Emma Keating was so grateful to the paramedic who delivered her first child that the baby's middle name is in his honour.

Weighing in at 6Ibs 13½ ounces, the baby boy was brought into the world as the healthy first child of Emma, by Mersey Regional Ambulance Service (MRAS) paramedics Phillip Ali and David Devlan.

Paramedics Phillip and David, along with a crew from Runcorn, were called to Miss Keating's Brookvale home just before 9am on Monday, June 13, only to discover the baby boy was on his way.

Eighteen-year-old Emma didn't realise she was in labour until it was too late - she called an ambulance but there was no time to get to hospital.

Emma has named her baby Jordan Phillip Hardy, to honour the paramedic.

Emma said: 'The paramedics were marvellous, they were so controlled and knew exactly what to do when they discovered my son was on his way. They did everything to ensure the safety and wellbeing of both Jordan and I. '

Phillip Ali said: 'It was a truly exhilarating experience. It was the first time I have delivered a baby so I was nervous but I stayed in control.

'When we arrived to deal with the call there was no time to lose as the baby was ready to be born. It was clear there was no time to get the mum to be to hospital, we had to act there and then.

'When I heard that the baby was to take his second name after me I felt honoured. Both mother and baby are well and we are all delighted.'
