Friends of Childer Thornton have donated £2,400 to the village primary school to help with costs for an outdoor initiative known as Forest School.

Headteacher Stephanie Raynor said, “Forest schools workshops have been running for children in Years 1 and 2 this term, and incorporate a lot of the curriculum, particularly in science. They have been extremely successful and the school has had many positive comments from pupils, parents and staff.”

The grant means that all children at the school can now benefit from Forest School activities.

Chairman Anne-Marie Ablett said: “Friends of Childer Thornton is delighted to be able to support our lovely school in this way. This kind of investment in our school and its children can be achieved only through a high level of involvement and support from our school community - something we are very fortunate to have at our school.”
