TALES of school days gone-by provided a history lesson with a difference for children at Guilden Sutton Primary School.
Grandparents were invited along to share their memories with the reception class on Friday, May 25 and were delighted by the response they got from the enthralled pupils.
Reception class teacher Sue Haywood said: “The afternoon was a great success and a number of grandparents commented on how clever the questions the children asked were, all of which were their own ideas.”
Questions such as ‘Did you have whiteboards?’ and ‘What were your uniforms like?’ inspired many stories from the visitors, many of whom had travelled from across the country to spend the afternoon with their grandchildren.
Afterwards they were treated to a cup of tea and some biscuits the children had made and decorated especially for their VIPs.
“The class really enjoyed listening to how things were so different for children years ago and it was a real treat for them to have their grandparents here. Everybody really enjoyed the experience.” added Mrs Heywood.
