A GOVERNMENT minister visited Chester to see how the area tackles youth offending.

David Hanson, Minister of State at the Department of Justice, paid a return visit to Blacon Community Trust to hear more about the good practice that has been developed in the area.

When the Minister visited earlier this year, he promised to come back to learn more about the success of early intervention programmes, developed on the estate by Blacon Youth Association, led by the Blacon Community Trust and the County Youth Service, to support children at risk of, or involved in, offending behaviour.

Joe Rose, local resident and long-standing chairman of the Community Trust said: “We are so delighted that the Minister has seen and heard first hand about our work here.

“Blacon is a very different place now thanks to the hard work and investment we have been able to make along with local schools and many other partners in working with local families to improve the life chances of our young people.

“If others can learn from our experience and success, that is all the better!”
