GOOGLE maps has been causing a stir with its Street View function over recent weeks, with questions being raised about whether it is an invasion of privacy.

Up until now, the issue has only affected major cities and Chester was not one of the areas covered - but if you were out and about in Chester yesterday (Wednesday, April 1), you might well have found yourself caught on camera.

Sightings of the Google cars were reported in the city centre at 11am and Hoole Road shortly before 4pm, with users on social networking site Twitter saying they had also spotted the cars.

One Twitter user said the cars had no logos, but a spokesman for Google said: “We have no idea where the cars have been today. We are trying to get the whole of the UK covered so it could well have been us - but our cars mostly have logos.”
