IT ALL adds up for Chester’s Kumon students.

Youngsters who study maths and English at the Chester North Study Centre at Upton’s County Sports Club have been awarded certificates and medals for mastering both subjects beyond their expected level.

Bronze, silver and gold awards were presented at the Advanced Student Roll ceremony by Kumon’s area manager David Hilton.

Sinchana Lakshmish received a special mention for achieving gold award in both subjects and Katy Ford, 11, received her Level 1 maths award, meaning she has mastered a level of algebra not usually covered until the latter half of high school.

Joan Dunn, whose two children study at the centre, said the ceremony encourages students to work hard and achieve.

Another parent Amanda Higham, said: “The children loved getting their medals. Kumon has really improved their confidence.”
