ALTERNATIVE plans have been agreed for the future of disused farm buildings close to a Grade II listed farmhouse.

The barns, at Horton Hall on Chester Road in Tarvin, are set in open countryside grouped around a courtyard at the end of a long lane leading from the Chester road.

In 2005, permission was granted for their conversion into three dwellings each with office, workshop or bed and breakfast accommodation. That approval expires in September.

AWC Developments has now put forward alternative plans with a greater amount of office and workshop space, including a separate office building.

Its plans include extending and carrying out external alterations to the barns and some demolition, according to city council planning officers.

They said the development had been “carefully designed” to reflect the character of the barns and the surrounding area.

It was not thought that traffic was likely to cause harm to the amenity of any adjacent dwellings, councillors heard.

Councillors agreed the application should have permission.
