PUPILS at Helsby High School celebrated record results at the Chester Road school with 83% of students gaining a minimum of five A* to C grades.

A total of 24 pupils gained nine or more grades at A* and 68% received five A* to C including maths and English.

Retiring headteacher Richard Evans said: “I am delighted that the pupils’ enthusiasm, commitment and hard work have been rewarded by these outstanding results.

“I would like to congratulate all of the pupils on their tremendous achievements and join with them in recognising the support, encouragement and high quality teaching that they have received from the staff at the school and the excellent support they have received from their parents during their time at school.

“We are extremely fortunate in having so many excellent teachers who dedicate so much of their time in helping all the pupils to achieve their potential at school.”

Pupils who joined the school when Frodsham College closed last year were extremely successful in their examinations with many of them exceeding their target grades.
