It's been another record-breaking year for students at Bishop Heber High School who are celebrating their GCSE results.
All students achieved at least 5 pass grades, with almost 91% achieving 5 or more A*-C grades and an unbelievable 98% achieving English grades of A*-C.
More students than ever achieved top grades with 46 students having achieved the top A* and A grades in at least 8 subjects, including Rhian Barton, Charlie Colville, Luke Harrod, Patrick Horrocks, Alex McCarthy, Kia Owen, Jacob Sims, Daniel Smith, Thomas Weaver, Ethan Wormley and William Wright, who achieved A* grades in 8 or more subjects.
Subjects in which students achieved more than 40% A*-A grades included English, Further Maths, Triple Science, Art, Drama, Chinese, IT, Geography, Religious Studies and Technology.
In many cases students exceeded their predicted grades in all subjects, and headteacher David Curry said he was ‘delighted’ with the results. He said: “It is our best set of results ever and shows that Bishop Heber High School continues to prepare its students for the challenges of A-level and beyond.
"This is a wonderful achievement for both students and staff, and is testimony to their hard work and commitment. I would like to congratulate all our students on their success. The hard work of the students themselves, together with the excellent teaching of my colleagues by the staff and the support of the students’ families has led to these outstanding results.
“Our Head of Sixth Form Gemma Dodd, is looking forward to welcoming most of our Year 11 back to our Sixth Form to continue their learning
and study. Our excellent Sixth Form results reported last week, together with these very encouraging results continue to demonstrate that Bishop Heber High School offers exciting and successful learning opportunities for young people.
“For those of our students who will be seeking training, employment or college opportunities we wish them well in their future and thank them for their contribution to our school”.
