Ninety per cent of students at The Hammond School in Chester achieved grades A*-C in their GCSE results this year.

GCSE English language saw a 90% pass rate and GCSE English literature, 97%.

Some individual students achieved outstanding results with Kate McGreary celebrating 4 A* and 1A and Will Goodwin gaining 1 A* and 5 As.

All the students achieved these results in addition to an intensive programme of dance or drama training.Principal Maggie Evans acknowledged the hard work of staff and students to achieve success.

She said: “This has been an exciting year in the school’s growth and development culminating in excellent results of A* and As in several departments such as drama, music and art and design.

‘‘Many of the students will be staying with us to join one of our post-16 courses in dance, musical theatre or drama but we wish each of our Year 11 students, whatever they are doing next, a happy and successful future career.”
