The headteacher of Blacon High School is thrilled that the outcomes for students taking GCSEs and other qualifications at the school have increased including in the core subjects of English and maths.

Sue Yates said: “Despite significant changes made by the government this year to the way the exams have been organised and how they are measured, students at this school have once again achieved improved outcomes.”

‘We have some exceptional individual student outcomes and once again this year many of our students have now secured places to study A levels, level 3 courses and other vocational routes.

“This includes some students who have been awarded fully funded places to some of the top public schools in the country through a bursary programme that is offered at this school.”

Top students include: Georgia Owen (11 GCSEs with 5 at A* and A) , Shaun Shrigley (11 GCSEs with 8 at A* and A), Bethany Sherwin (11 GCSEs with 7 at A* and A), Stephanie Chinchen (11 GCSEs with 5 at A* and A), Elizabeth Hughes (11 GCSEs with 2 A* and A), Daniel Dixey (10 GCSEs with 4 A* and A) and Kieran Rigby (10 GCSEs with 4 A* and A).
