Emma Armstrong’s two children were devastated when she was hit by a car as she crossed the road last year, but thankfully the Whitby telesales executive is well on the road to recovery.

Now her daughter Jasmine, 20, and 15-year-old son Connor are hoping to make their ‘rock’ of a mum’s 40th birthday party in August even more special by inviting Gary Barlow along for a once-in-a-lifetime performance.

The Frodsham-born Take That star has promised to sing at fans’ milestone birthday shindigs in 2016, following on from the success of his wedding singing appearances last year.

So Jasmine, who is studying medical science at West Cheshire College, has thrown herself into campaigning for him to serenade Emma with gusto – so much so that she had her Twitter account blocked for sending too many messages to him.

But she is now back in business and has been tweeting up a storm once more with the hashtag #myamazingmummys40th.

Jasmine told The Chronicle why she has launched her campaign for Take That superfan Emma: “We’ve had a really rough few years and my mum has been a single mum struggling to bring up me and my brother with no help from family.

“She’s had a lot of tough things to deal with but she’s always there for me and Connor and she’s honestly my absolute rock.

“If I could get this to happen it would mean absolutely everything to the three of us. This is the one birthday present that me and my brother could give my mum that money just can’t buy.”

Emma broke her wrist, fractured her elbow and coccyx and sustained bruising and soft tissue damage when a car knocked her over as she crossed a zebra crossing on Whitby Road on November 8, 2015.

The zebra crossing, which is between the mini roundabout at Morrisons and the Pooltown Road junction, has since been identified as a priority location to be upgraded in a bid to enhance pedestrian safety in the area.

“She was off work for 15 weeks and is only on part-time hours because she is awaiting an MRI scan as she is still suffering and in a lot of pain,” said Jasmine.

Singer-songwriter Gary revealed last week that his first milestone birthday gig is already fixed in his diary.

Hopeful Jasmine has thoughtfully penned a heartfelt plea to Gary using the titles some of his best-loved hits, but ‘could it be magic’ for Emma on her 40th birthday?
