POLICE in the Saltney and Saltney Ferry area are reminding residents of the importance of securing garden furniture and valuable items following a number of thefts.
Over the past six weeks garden furniture and seven bikes have been stolen from the area.
The most recent incident happened on Monday, November 11, and to date a full garden table and chair set have been taken, a garden strimmer and golf equipment that was stored in a shed. Most of the equipment has been taken during the night from gardens and sheds.
Inquiries into the incidents are already under way and police are appealing to anyone who may have information regarding the thefts to contact local officers.
There is a reminder to all of the importance of keeping their gardens and bikes secure with the following tips:
Always ensure that bikes are stored away securely and the appropriate locks attached to them.
If storing a bike in a shed ensure that the bike cannot be seen through the window by either placing it out of sight or placing netting over the window.
With winter approaching ensure that garden furniture is also locked away and kept out of sight of a would-be thief.
Consider installing security lights or mini shed alarms.
Anyone who has information regarding the thefts is asked to contact PC 1795 Claire Fielding at Saltney Police Station - 0845 6071002, 07854393569 or email firstname.lastname@example.org or PCSO 2926 Danny Hughes, Saltney Police station - 08456071001 (Welsh line) or 0845 607 1002 (English line) or 07896172979, or e-mail email@example.com.
