THOUSANDS of people are expected to make a bee-line for Arley Hall and Gardens this weekend, where the annual garden festival is in full swing.

The festival has gone from strength to strength over the years thanks to its guiding light, marketing executive Judy Popley.

New features this year include the Bayer Gardening Roadshow - a team of experts including Martin Fish, Sarah Hopps, Peter Blackburn-Maze and Geoff Stebbings, who will be on hand to give demonstrations and advice.

As well as the roadshow, the festival will feature a huge floral marquee, with displays and sales of exquisite plants, foliage, shrubs and trees.

There will also be dozens of trade stands, selling every conceivable type of horticultural accessory from all over the UK.

The refreshments at Arley include a marquee offering barbecued food, strawberries and champagne and Pimms.

'It's a glorious show, set in wonderful surrounding and unlike many of the other flower shows around, we encourage strictly garden-related stands,' said Judy.

Tickets are available at tourist information offices or on 01565 777353. There is free parking.
