Mourners have begun to gather to say their final farewells to Carl Sargeant.
The funeral service takes place today at St Mark’s Church, Connah’s Quay, where he lived with his family.
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is expected to attend the funeral.
Mr Sargeant's family say they want the service to be a “celebration” of his life.
First Minister Carwyn Jones, sacked the 49-year-old Assembly Member from his cabinet days before he took his own life on November 7.
Mr Sargeant had faced accusations of “groping” and “unwanted touching” and was suspended from the Labour Party, four days before he was found dead at his home.
The First Minister will not attend today’s service, expected to start at noon.
Mr Sargeant had denied the allegations.
His family claimed the former industrial firefighter was not aware of the nature of the claims against him and he felt unable to defend himself.
