A bumper weekend of fundraising for Chester FC will take place on April 4 and 5 with a Race Night and a Sponsored Walk.

Chester fans are being encouraged to sign up to the club’s second 5km sponsored walk which will take place prior to the Hyde FC game on Saturday 5th April at 11am.

Last year’s event raised more than £5,000 for the club. This year the proceeds are being split between Youth Development and the club’s Wheelchair Supporter Viewing Project.

The walk has been sponsored by Paul Bentley Wholesale Confectionery, I Travel Smart and Olympic Trophies. All participants will receive goodies and a medal.

A special website has been set up for fans to sign up and a sponsorship form can be downloaded from the site or collected from reception at the club. To visit the webpage, please visit www.cfcwalk.co.uk

The Race Night will be held on Friday, April 4 in Blues Bar at 7.30pm. Tickets are on sale at the club office priced £3. Organisers are looking for race event sponsors £100, individual race sponsors £25 and horse sponsors £5. Full details are available in the club office.

Fundraising Committee chairman Brian Burns said: “We really would like as many people as possible to get involved with the walk which starts from the Swansway Chester Stadium at 11am, and works its way up Sealand Road before heading down Ferry Lane and continuing past the River Dee and returns back towards the ground.

“Registration on the day begins at 10am in Blues Bar, with the walk commencing an hour later and we ask everyone to arrive in good time on the day.

“We’re hopeful people will also support our Race Night and both events over the weekend will raise plenty of money for the club’s fundraising ventures.

“If you are unable to take part in the walk, there is also a sponsorship form for non-walkers who could raise money by doing their own event such as sponsored gardening, washing up, head shaving, car washing , the choice is yours – it all raises money for the Youth Development and the club’s Wheelchair Supporter Viewing Project.”
