FUNDRAISERS are celebrating a record year of charity work.
The Cheshire Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association raised £30,231 last year through fundraising events and donations.
It held its AGM at Leighton Hospital with Crewe and Nantwich mayor Maureen Grant present as a guest.
Association chairwoman Joan Park announced that the branch had raised a record amount, with £18,000 invested in research into the fatal disease.
Mrs Park said: 'It's a wonderful achievement. Our aim is to improve our support for people in Cheshire living with MND and increase fund-raising.'
Mrs Park started fundraising for MND in 1997 after her husband George died from the disease. The Cheshire branch of the MND Association was set up in 2000 and she became chairwoman last year. nAnybody wanting to get involved with the MND Association can contact Joan Park on 01270 624980.
