PUPILS at The Grange School, Hartford have maintained their recent record of consistent and excellent results. Seventy eight per cent of all GCSE grades gained in this summer’s exams were awarded A or A* grades, over 45% at the highest grade.
Almost 43% of the students, that’s 41 out of 96, achieved nothing lower than an A grade, and 10 students were awarded straight A* grades in all nine subjects taken.
Headmaster Christopher Jeffery said: “We have become familiar with excellent GCSE results in recent years, and this year maintains that level of performance.
“To have well over three quarters of grades awarded at A or above speaks volumes for our young people and for their teachers, who work so brilliantly together to achieve results to be proud of.”
Two students, Alex Blayney from Hartford and Gareth Wilkes from Cuddington received news that they were among the top ten individual students nationally in the EdExcel board’s IGCSE Chemistry, which Grange pupils entered for the first time this year.
“We chose to offer IGCSE Chemistry for the first time, as it is a more stretching and challenging course than the new GCSE, and thus of greater value to our students”, said Mr Jeffery. “Such excellent results in a hard exam prove this to have been a very worthwhile decision”.
