TEACHING children to read has inspired a Chester teacher to turn his hand to writing.
Gordon Smith, who has retired from Hoole Primary School after 13 years, plans to write a children’s book and a novel.
Gordon, who lives in Stockton Heath with wife Jayne, who is also a teacher, said: “I suppose I could say that I am looking forward to reading my rejection slips!”
Parents at the school organised a party at All Saints Church Hall for Gordon and other teachers who have left the school this summer.
“I am so grateful to the parents who organised this,” said Gordon.
