A search is on for Frodsham Town Council’s next chairman after Mark Warren resigned from the post.

Mr Warren has served as a Lakes Ward councillor since 2011.

His reasons for stepping down from the position have not been made public, with the council saying they are respecting Mr Warren’s wishes.

A Frodsham Town Council statement said: “The council wishes to place on record its gratitude for the four and a half years’ service that Mark has put into his role as both a councillor for Lakes Ward and as chair of the Council.

“His departure leaves a huge void in the council and a very difficult role to fill.

“A new chair will be installed in due course.”

Mr Warren’s time in charge saw the town council become the first in the borough to broadcast their meetings online.

He oversaw the renovation of the Churchfields playground but also the sale of the Fountain Lane Play Area which he personally admitted ‘could have been handled better’.

No further official comment will be made by Frodsham Town Council until a new chairman is in place.
