A FIVE-YEAR-OLD girl decided that it wasn’t just parents who got their own day – so she wrote to the Prime Minister to ask for one.

Katie Oliver, a pupil of Manor House Primary School, Langdale Way, composed the letter at home and took it into school, where teacher Adam Sproston sent it to Number 10 Downing Street.

Adam said: “We were doing some work for Mother’s Day and she said she wanted to ask the ‘boss of England’ for a children’s day as well. She thought it wasn’t very fair for mothers and fathers to get one and not children.

“She was really excited when the reply arrived at school and she opened it up in front of all her classmates.

“The letter says that he will consider the idea but he is a busy man, so we’ll have to see what happens.”
