A FOREST of Christmas trees decorated by dozens of community groups filled Frodsham Methodist Church for the town’s first tree festival.

About 650 people attended the Kingsley Road church’s Christmas tree festival – which saw 28 Christmas trees decorated by businesses, schools and societies throughout Frodsham – last weekend.

Rev Pat Christopher said: “It was fabulous to see so many people at the Christmas tree festival.

“Congratulations to all the winners of the various competitions and thanks to all those who decorated trees, we hope you enjoyed taking part.”

Frodsham C of E Primary School was voted the best decorated tree by visitors to the church, with a tree fashioned by the Frodsham Mother’s Union finishing runner up.

A competition to design the programme cover was won by McKenzie Macmillan and Alex Stanway of Weaver Vale Primary School, Emilia Andrews and Sadie Bullock of Frodsham C of E Primary School, and Emily Cleland, Alice Hughes and Robert Hughes of Frodsham Manor House Primary School.

Christmas celebrations will continue at Frodsham Methodist Church on Sunday, December 18, with a traditional carol concert by candlelight at 6pm, a Christmas Eve Holy Communion at 9pm, and a short Christmas Day family service at 10.45am.
