SINGING stars took to the stage at Frodsham Manor House Primary School on Friday to raise hundreds of pounds for a new classroom.

Pupils impersonating their favourite pop stars performed in front of a packed audience and raised £400 for an external classroom and performance area for the Langdale Way school.

Head teacher Ian Devereux-Roberts, who acted as compère for the evening, said: “The talent that the children at school show never ceases to amaze me.

“Children who are very quiet during their lessons seem to just come alive when performing on stage in front of a huge audience.

“All the children performed superbly, with no mistakes in sight.

“Watching the responses of the parents as their children performed was just magic.

“Saying that the feeling of pride was evident on the night would be an understatement.

“The performances have certainly developed over the years and the interest in taking part just keeps on growing.”

Twenty talented children performed in the school’s third Stars In Their Eyes event including 2010 champion Robbie Jackson who performed as Paolo Nutini, with Ellie Thompson as Lily Allen in second and Tom Norbury as Danny O’Donoghue from The Script third.

The children’s winner was Jordon Owen as Jay Sean and the best newcomer was Bethan Creamer as Miley Cyrus.
