A FRODSHAM man hid wads of cocaine down his socks and in the lining of his trousers, a court heard.

Appearing before Chester magistrates, Martyn Holme, of Doric Avenue, pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a Class A drug.

The court heard how on April 24 this year Holme was stood outside the Cholmondeley Arms in Frodsham when he was randomly searched for drugs by officers.

Alison Warburton, prosecuting, said Holme had confessed to the police he had a bag of cocaine hidden in his sock.

The officers recovered 0.8g of cocaine, which was valued at about £32, said Miss Warburton. They then found another bag in the knee of the defendants trousers valued at £22.

On September 25 police stopped checked Holme as he was driving out of a Frodsham supermarket. He again told officers he was carrying cocaine in his sock and when he was searched they found a wrap of white powder, which was confirmed as the drug.

Derek Macdonald, defending, said: He is a young man with no dependants.

He has fully co-operated with police and entered a guilty plea on the first available occasion. He is not a regular drug user.

Holme was fined a total of £450 for the two offences and ordered to pay costs of £170 and a victim surcharge of £15.
